Go on a one-day tour to the David Gareja Monastery complex. This short but eventful journey will allow you to explore one of the most ancient and important religious sites in Georgia.

Davit-Gareja cave city, an extraordinary site with fantastic semi-desert landscapes, is located 100km southeast from Tbilisi, and it was founded in the 6th Century by David (St. David Garejeli). The complex of temples stretches for several kilometres in the southeast of the country and along the border with Azerbaijan.

The David Gareja Monastery is unique due to the fact that many of its buildings are cut into a huge tilted rock and some of its temples still preserve millenary frescos. Be ready to walk and climb on uneven ground. The walking route lasts approximately 4 km (2.5 miles). On the way back, you will stop at a nice cosy house for lunch (not included) and for a wine tasting.
